Why? is it good to breed birds?

Birds fly south every year for winter because instinct tells them to go. When a mother hen lays eggs instinct tells her to sit on them. Instinct tells her to feed them and care for them. The fact is that Birds live longer when they are bread and have healthier more productive lives with a mate. Studies show that some birds bond for life and can't be separated from their mate or they will die of loneliness. This is exactly why they make mirrors for bird cages. So that the bird is not lonely because it doesn't have a mate.

The fact is that we have taken these birds from the wild and placed them into cages to have as pets. We have all these animal rights activists saying "You shouldn't breed those birds. You are contributing to the problem of homeless birds when you could be adopting and rescuing them."
In reality breeders are not the reason people no longer want their pets. We are not responsible for the pets after they leave our facility. The real responsible party is the pet owner who goes and buys a pet that they love at first, but get sick of the responsibility of cleaning, feeding, and caring for their pets on a day to day basis. The fact is that breeders are no more responsible for the welfare of the pet as the pets themselves. Breeders do not force the birds to have babies. They do not make them over produce. The reality here is that breeders simply sell the birds that produce in their house from the birds doing normal things like having sex. It is normal for all animals to reproduce. It is not normal to force the birds to be celibate. How would you like it if someone came to you and said "I don't think you will be a good parent, you can't have sex."? Well that is what it is coming down to. No birds are not people, but they have a right to have sex because it is human nature. When you start messing with mother nature you usually cause a big problem. It is normal for birds to breed. It is normal for birds to mate. It is normal even for birds to die. No not all birds have to die a bad death but information about bird care is out there and consumers who purchase birds should be informed ahead of time how to care for the bird and what a big responsibility it is to own a bird.

Fees?

I find it hypocritical that a rescue facility thinks it is 'okay' to charge an adoption fee for the bird that they have rescued to go to a 'good' family but they are angry at breeders for selling our birds. Isn't that what you are doing? Selling your bird to a family for a fee. Breeders are selling their birds to families for a fee also. I don't know any breeder that would sell their bird to a person they thought could not take care of the bird. Do you know anyone that would sell their bird to someone they thought couldn't take care of it? In reality no one would. No one is that cruel. Home breeders take special care of their birds. They care for them as if they were their own children. Larger pets stores usually breed their own birds and they are then responsible for the outcome of what has occurred not the breeder. Smaller pet stores buy their birds from breeders who love and care for their birds. Buyers that come into smaller pet stores are ones from the community that support their smaller stores and businesses in the area. They are not some 'weirdo's' from every nook and cranny of the world. So it is preposterous to think that they would purchase a bird to intentionally harm them.
Breeders are no longer 'selling' these birds. They are now going to charge an adoption fee. If you are a breeder please do not 'sell' your birds just change your words (like the animal rights activists do) and call it an adoption fee. It is the same thing isn't it?
