I got these birds from a breeder who was not taking good care of
them.
The birds were sick when I received them and they were living in
very poor conditions. They had dust for food in their bowls (dog
dish) on the
bottom of the cage. They had no clean water and very little dirty
water. There were maggots under the food containers.
Now I take care of them every day. The first week I had them
they were literally starving. They engorged themselves in the food
because they were starving. I had to ration the food out differently
after that
so that they wouldn't engorge themselves the next time.
Every bird I received had mites and was treated. Every bird was bald
when
I got it because of over crowding (pecking each other).
I donated some birds to reduce the population.
There were originally over thirty birds now there is 11.
I have already received a bunch of hate mail from starting this
web site. When I got these birds they were already breeding.
It is pretty sad that I ran around for days trying to find out
how to get an Avian breeding license for this and come to find
out this state doesn't even license bird breeders. Only cats and
dogs. Thanks to all you who didn't agree I had to run around
like a chicken with my head cut off trying to find out what the
laws were requiring breeding even though I had just taken the
birds in.
People act like you are doing something wrong by breeding birds.
The fact is that the birds will live longer if they breed unless
they
are already bonded to a human.
Bird fanatics threatened to turn me in for saying my birds were
breeding even though I couldn't help what they had already done
before they came to me. The bird fanatics didn't even ask me if
my birds were well, or even what their living conditions were. Instead
they just jumped right down my throat for having birds that are
breeding. They asked me right away if they could 'buy' my birds
because I was supposedly lining my pockets with money. Yeah right,
the money is where? I haven't sold one single bird. Even though
I told them this they harped on me and harassed me and told me that
I was no good. That the birds should have been left in the poor
conditions
they were in rather than come to me because I was allowing them
to breed.
People such as themselves that try to make others feel 'less than'
suck.
As far as I am concerned all you people who don't like it that
I am breeding some birds ... well...... let
me tell you where to
stick it.
In the end I provide their food, water and a roof over their heads.
I clean their cages and provide medical treatment for them and
you don't pay the bills around here so get over it.
Have a very nice day! :)
